Tour Overview

This is an exciting five-day Flinders Ranges tour from Adelaide, exploring the Flinders Ranges and many historic towns and other places of natural interest throughout the South Australian outback.

A visit to Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary is included, as is the famous Arkaroola 4WD ridge-top tour. Located 600km north of Adelaide in the ruggedly spectacular northern Flinders Ranges, this 610sq km sanctuary features unique geological features, rugged mountains, towering granite peaks, magnificent gorges and mysterious waterholes, and is home to a large range of bird, reptile and mammal species, including the endangered Yellow-Footed Rock-Wallaby.

There is also an optional 4-hour Lake Eyre scenic flight. See Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre and its surrounds from the air -- the best way to see it! Marvel at the flooding now underway in this otherwise dry lake.

Visit Wilpena Pound, a natural amphitheatre of mountains within the Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park.

See the stunning extremes of Australia’s Outback on this 5 day tour of the Flinders Ranges National Park and surrounds from Adelaide. Join our small group tour and discover the history, wildlife, landscapes and geology of this amazing region.

Day 1

Commence your wilderness journey heading north via the old coastal towns of Port Wakefield and Port Germein, which boasts the longest wooden jetty in the Southern Hemisphere. During the safari your Tour Guide will introduce you to a remarkable and resilient history of both Aboriginal and white settlement in S.A.

Be amazed by the beauty of the Southern Flinders Ranges, 600 million year old mountain peaks and spectacular views over Spencer Gulf. Travel through picturesque Pichi Richi Pass to the historic township of Quorn. With its typical outback buildings and the original Ghan Railway station, Quorn has been the setting for many iconic Australian films.

Follow in the path of our early explorers driving to Warrens Gorge Conservation Park to search for rare Yellow-Footed Rock Wallabies. Dramatic rock outcrops harbour these endangered wallabies with only an estimated 8,000 living in the wild. Sit back in our comfortable, fully equipped 4WD vehicle as we head along remote tracks through the deserted Willochra Plains where eagles soar and emus run free.
