Sevenhill

South Australia's clare-valley

Sevenhill is famous for being the site of the first vineyard in the Clare Valley region, established by Jesuit priests in 1851. The town is home to the historic Sevenhill Cellars, which is the oldest winery in the Clare Valley and still produces award-winning wines to this day. The name, bestowed by Austrian Jesuit priest Aloysius Kranewitter, is in homage to the seven hills of Rome. Sevenhill is also known for its picturesque surroundings, with rolling vineyards, historic buildings, and a peaceful atmosphere.

The original inhabitants of the Sevenhill area were the Ngadjuri people, an Indigenous Australian group who have lived in the region for thousands of years.
