West Cape

South Australia's yorke-peninsula

West Cape is a striking headland located in the Dhilba Guuranda–Innes National Park on the southern tip of South Australia's Yorke Peninsula. It is the westernmost point of the peninsula, offering dramatic coastal views of the Southern Spencer Gulf. This area is characterized by rugged cliffs, sandy beaches, and coastal vegetation, making it a popular destination for hikers, bird watchers, and photographers.

The West Cape Lighthouse, built in 1980, is a key feature of the landscape. Constructed from stainless steel, it was designed to be an unmanned navigational aid, guiding vessels safely into Spencer Gulf alongside other lighthouses in the region. The surrounding area is part of a protected marine park, home to diverse marine life, and offers opportunities for observing native fauna like dolphins and sea birds.
