Port Vincent is a coastal town located on the eastern side of South Australia's Yorke Peninsula, about 194 km from Adelaide. It was originally known as Surveyor’s Point and was formally laid out in 1877 by L.M. Cullen, an Adelaide solicitor. The area was traditionally inhabited by the Narungga people prior to European settlement. Historically, Port Vincent served as a port for exporting wheat and wool, with a jetty built in the early 1900s to facilitate shipping.
In recent years, Port Vincent has grown into a popular holiday destination, known for its safe swimming beaches, fishing, and boating opportunities. A marina was developed in 2003, adding to its appeal as a tourist and retirement town. The town is also noted for its community involvement, winning multiple 'Tidiest Town' awards, including the national title in 2004.
