Marion Bay is a small coastal town situated at the southern tip of South Australia's Yorke Peninsula. Known as the gateway to the Dhilba Guuranda–Innes National Park, the area is a popular destination for fishing, surfing, and beach activities.
Historically, the area around Marion Bay was inhabited by the Narangga people, who utilized the local marine resources. European settlers arrived in the mid-19th century, with some drawn by the discovery of copper further north on the peninsula. The town later developed as a recreational hub, with a jetty built to support fishing and local industry.
Today, Marion Bay serves as a base for exploring Innes National Park, known for its rugged coastlines, abundant wildlife, and historic sites like the ghost town of Inneston, which once thrived as a gypsum mining community.
