Gumeracha

South Australia's adelaide-plains

Gumeracha is a delightful little gem hidden away in the Adelaide Hills of South Australia. Established in 1839, Gumeracha quickly blossomed into a crucial hub for the local agricultural community, famed for its bountiful fruit orchards and vineyards. The name "Gumeracha" is derived from the Aboriginal term 'Umeracha', referring to the Torrens waterhole at the heart of the district, which highlights the area’s deep-rooted connection to its Indigenous heritage. The local Peramangk people have a significant cultural presence here, and their relationship with the land is proudly celebrated through various community initiatives.

One of the highlights of Gumeracha is undoubtedly the Big Rocking Horse, a gigantic toy rocking horse that proudly claims the title of the largest in the world, as recognised by the Guinness Book of Records. This iconic landmark is part of a delightful family-friendly experience at the Toy Factory. Additionally, Gumeracha plays host to the Gumeracha Medieval and Rare Trades Festival.
