Edithburgh Water Tank Art

South Australia's yorke-peninsula

Edithburgh, a charming coastal treasure located on the Yorke Peninsula, is renowned for its vibrant water tank art, which has turned a local water tank into a magnificent canvas for creativity. This delightful artwork can be spotted on New Honiton Road.

The initiative sprang to life in 2017, with the aim of revitalising the area and attracting visitors. The breathtaking pieces, created by talented artists Mike Makatron, Conrad Bizjak, and Dylan Butler, began in mid-March 2021 and were completed just a few weeks later.

The Edithburgh concept features a stunning variety of coral, inspired by underwater photography taken at the local jetty. Accompanying this are the enchanting Striped Pyjama Squid, a Cuttlefish, and the splendid Leafy Sea Dragon. The lower section contrasts beautifully with the deep blue of the surf, while the upper part showcases a radiant sunrise, capturing the White Bellied Sea Eagle and the endangered Far Eastern Curlew in dynamic flight. Also depicted is the Troubridge Island lighthouse, rising majestically from the waves, with a subtle nod to its establishment in 1856 at its base.
