Nestled in the secluded outback of South Australia, Anna Creek Station lies 160 km east of Coober Pedy and 16 km west of William Creek along the Coober Pedy Road. It holds the title of the world's largest cattle station, covering an impressive 15,746 square kilometres and supporting a herd of approximately 9,500 cattle, with an annual rainfall of just 140mm.
The landscape itself is a fascinating mix of sandy hill country, swamps, and extensive gibber tablelands, interspersed with vital waterholes that sustain the region's wildlife. This area is home to an array of unique flora and fauna, including kangaroos, emus, various bird species, and a range of reptiles. The plant life features resilient shrubs and spinifex grasses, all well-adapted to the arid environment.
Historically, this land has been home to the Arabana people, who share a deep connection to the land and its stories. The Aboriginal art from the region is particularly noteworthy, with traditional art forms often illustrating Dreamtime stories, and you can find exquisite pieces in galleries throughout South Australia.
