Alberrie Creek

South Australia's adelaide-plains

Alberrie Creek boasts a fascinating history and vibrant culture. Once a railway siding on the Old Ghan line, it lies a mere 30km west of Marree along the Oodnadatta Track. Today, it proudly hosts the Mutonia Sculpture Park. As you journey along the Oodnadatta Track from Marree, your eyes will soon be drawn to two peculiar, almost cross-like structures on the horizon. They do seem to evoke a sense of the sacred, but as you draw nearer, you'll discover their true nature—aircraft standing tall on their ends. Welcome to the unique world of Mutonia Sculpture Park!

The area is also home to a variety of desert flora and fauna, showcasing our splendid native species. Keep an eye out for the Gould's Goanna, which once served as an important bush food for the Indigenous peoples of Australia, as well as non-native species like camels and date palms.

Originally inhabited by the Ngarrindjeri people, this region carries profound cultural significance for the local Aboriginal communities.
