This is an epic 10-day small group 4WD eco safari from Adelaide exploring Eyre Peninsula, the Flinders Ranges, Yorke Peninsula and Outback South Australia.
This tour includes locations such as Wilpena Pound, Gulf St Vincent, Tumby Bay, Sleaford Bay and Whalers Way; historic coastal towns including Port Germein; natural habitats such as Lincoln National Park and Gawler Ranges National Park; and attractions such as the Arid Lands Botanic Garden, Murphy’s Haystacks, and the Coffin Bay Oyster Farms.

All pricing is in Australian dollars and is inclusive of taxes. Tour prices include all transport, accommodation and location entry fees. It also includes meals as indicated in each days’ itinerary. Optional extras are not included in the tour price; these must be booked with SA Eco Tours and paid for separately after your tour is booked.

Heading north through the lush rural countryside to the beautiful Clare Valley you will be entertained with stories about our early settlers. Visit the beautiful and historic Jesuits, Seven Hill winery for tasting and a look around.
Follow The RM Williams Way through towns including James Town, Cradock and Hawker. During the safari your Tour Guide will introduce you to a remarkable and resilient history of both Aboriginal and white settlement in SA. Marvel at the Southern Flinders Ranges, 800-million-year-old mountain peaks with spectacular views over this incredible landscape.
As the sun gets low you will pass by Rawnsley Bluff and Wilpena Pound. Great Photographic opportunities.

After a hearty breakfast, travel to Quorn with its typical outback buildings and the original Ghan Railway station. This little outback town has been the setting for many iconic Australian films. See spectacular views over Spencer Gulf as we travel through the picturesque Pichi Richi Pass to Port Augusta.
Slowly head down the Eastern side of Spencer Gulf to Whyalla. Wander around the Multi award winning Visitors Centre and Maritime Museum.
Follow the main coast road down to Cowell. See the amazing silo art on the edge of town. Photograph the Tumby Bay Silo art.
Stop for a break at the lovely coastal village of Port Neill then onto Port Lincoln.

Wake up to views of the picturesque Boston Bay, one of the world’s largest natural harbours. Stroll amongst one of Australia’s largest fishing fleets at Lincoln Cove Marina.
Enjoy the day exploring the south-west region of Port Lincoln’s natural coastal area. This area features a magnificent, rugged coastline, secluded beaches and the pounding wild seas of the great Southern Ocean. We’ll have a picnic lunch overlooking the spectacular white sand hills and untouched landscapes at Sleaford’s Bay.
Later in the day, we head out to Port Lincoln National Park to see the spectacular coastal cliffs and deserted islands out from Wanna Beach. Southern Right and Humpback Whales are often seen in this area during May and October. As our itinerary is not rushed, we can relax, watch and photograph these amazing mammals.

Spend a relaxing morning having a look around the shops and foreshore of Port Lincoln. See the bronze statue of Makybe Diva, three-time Melbourne Cup winner.
After lunch, head off to Coffin Bay, exploring many natural beauty spots on the way. Book into our accommodation for the next two nights.
At 2.30 pm we include the famous Coffin Bay HQ Oyster farm tour and tasting. Put on the waders and enjoy a feed of both Pacific and native Angasi oysters (if available).
Later in the day we will drive a short distance to Long beach. Have a stroll along this beautiful, white sandy seashore. Try fishing for King George Whiting or local Garfish – rods and gear supplied.
Do a spot of birdwatching or just sit back and relax in this happy, tranquil environment.

Spend the day exploring one of the world’s most pristine and beautiful National Parks at Coffin Bay. Visit Point Avoid and Almonta Beach. See Golden Island and secluded beaches that go forever.
The park is teaming with wildlife including Emus, White Bellied Sea Eagles, Ospreys and many more of our rarer coastal bird populations. Do a spot of birdwatching or just sit back and relax.
If the weather is warm jump in for a crystal clear ocean water swim.

After breakfast we will travel north up the western side of Eyre Peninsula, taking in the spectacular scenic drives at Sheringa and the Elliston trail along Little Bay.
Visit Talia Caves and the beautiful Talia Beach. Walk around, photograph and marvel at the strange granite formations of Murphys Haystacks.
We arrive at Streaky Bay in the late afternoon.

Explore the coastal areas that surround Streaky Bay, including the Cape Bauer loop, the Blowholes, Whistling Rock, Hallys Beach and many other spectacular beaches, isolated bays and coves.
Head out to Cape Labatt to see the Australian Sea Lion colony.

Travel along the coastal road to the crystal clean waters of Smoky Bay for a 2-hour oyster farm tour including lunch. Then head along the awe-inspiring Gawler Ranges teaming with wildlife. There is a rich history of both white and aboriginal culture which is very visible.
Visit the unique Pildappa Rock with its wave-like formation. We’ll do a full Gawler Ranges loop, if time, road conditions and weather permit.
Then we’ll head along the Eyre Highway to Wudinna.

We head to Cowel and the Lucky Bay Jetty. Catch the midday Spencer Gulf Sea Road ferry from Franklin Harbour to Wallaroo, Yorke Peninsula.
Stop at Barley Stacks Winery and enjoy the local drop. Opened in 1996, this winery is the first commercial vineyard/winery established on the traditional barley belt of Yorke Peninsula, which is renowned for growing the world’s best malting barley.
Rich grey soil over limestone produces the famous barley and premium quality grape.
Then we’re onto the picturesque coastal village of Point Turton.
At the end of the day a magical South Aussie sunset captures over the ocean.

Explore remote coastal tracks and small fishing villages including Corny Point and Berry Bay. Here we find some of Yorke Peninsula’s most spectacular coastal scenery: pink lakes; white, sandy beaches; rolling surf where pods of Dolphins frolic; and rugged cliffs of unspoiled beauty.
We will pass the South Hummocks Range, ancient remains of a great mountain range that once dominated the outback.
We arrive back in Adelaide in the early evening.

We meet on the morning of departure at the Adelaide Central Bus Station on Franklin Street, Adelaide. If you are meeting the tour group here, please arrive by 7:30 am. We can also pick up travellers from their accommodation, as long as it’s a hotel in the central city area. These pick-ups take place between 7:45 am and 8:30 am. If you will require a pick-up from your hotel, please mention this at, or soon after, the time of booking.
On the day of return, we arrive back at the Adelaide Central Bus Station or your inner-city hotel between 4:30 pm and 6:00 pm depending on the day’s travel.
